|Queries for Seventh Month (July) on Unity in Meeting
● Do we seek to nurture a spirit of unity in our Meeting?
● If a problem or conflict arises within the Meeting, do we make timely efforts to address the issue in a spirit of love and humility? As we seek unity, do we listen to one another carefully and with openness to Truth?
● Are we able to express our views honestly and with respect for those who differ with us? Are we prepared to set aside our individual desires or opinions in order to reach unity in the divine Light?
● Are we willing to wait patiently for divine guidance rather than be hurried by the passing of time?
● When the Meeting has made a decision, do we continue to care for and respect one another, regardless of our differing personal views?
Friends are reminded that the deadline for submission to the Bulletin is Wednesday at noon. Thank you. Please submit items for the bulletin and/or the Facebook page to the clerks at this address: email@example.com
Upcoming Events and Announcements
Volunteers Needed: If you would like to volunteer at the Saturday, August 19th Porch Party/Open House/Flea Market being organized by the Outreach Committee, please sign up ASAP with Retta or Rachel! firstname.lastname@example.org We want to know far in advance whether we will have the needed quantity of volunteers. Many volunteers are needed! You won’t have to volunteer the full hours of the event (10-3); we will work with your availability.
Presentation on Friends House Moscow, Wednesday July 26, 7 PM. Peace and Social Concerns will be hosting Julie Harlow, the Clerk of Friends House Moscow in the PFM Meeting House. She will be presenting an update, illustrated by slides, about the work of FHM. Her previous presentations have been informative and well-received by PFM. This update promises to be especially timely, given that current concerns about Russia’s relationship with the United States have also been impacting that work. Please mark this event on your calendar, if it is at all possible for you to attend.
Bible Study Date Change: Please note that August’s Bible Study will be taking place on Sunday, July 31. We will resume our normal schedule (of First Sunday) in September. Questions? Email Mary Parish at email@example.com.
When scheduling meetings and other events, please keep in mind that the Meeting House is CLOSED on Mondays until 5 pm and all day and evening on Fridays.
The House Manager’s email is: firstname.lastname@example.org
Friendly Utility Players – These are folks who might be willing to help out with a specific need of a committee, a short-term or one-off task. It’s easy. Volunteers, add your name to the list. Committee members, when there is a need, send me a request and I’ll pass it on to the list. Members of the list should only get two emails per request – one asking for help and one notifying that a match has been made. This seems like a friendly way to support the ongoing work of our committees, particularly for those whose schedules make serving on committees difficult. If you’d like to join the volunteer list, please email Mary King email@example.com.
Library Committee: “Reading for a Rainy Day” Look for summer reading suggestions on the library mantel. The Sunday morning parlor display has gone on vacation—but the mantel selection will be periodically updated. Note “New Books” there, too. See borrowing instructions on library desk, and have a good read!
