Upcoming Events and Announcements
July 16. Come to an Earthcare Sundae “We are called to live in right relationship with Creation, recognizing that the entire world is interconnected.” Whew, that’s a tall order! Let’s start simply by sharing what actions we’re taking now and how we can help one another to move forward. There will be ice cream, because everything is easier when there’s ice cream. July 16, 12:15 pm after meeting.
Friendly Utility Players – These are folks who might be willing to help out with a specific need of a committee, a short-term or one-off task. It’s easy. Volunteers, add your name to the list. Committee members, when there is a need, send me a request and I’ll pass it on to the list. Members of the list should only get two emails per request – one asking for help and one notifying that a match has been made. This seems like a friendly way to support the ongoing work of our committees, particularly for those whose schedules make serving on committees difficult. Library Committee: “Reading for a Rainy Day” Look for summer reading suggestions on the library mantel. The Sunday morning parlor display has gone on vacation—but the mantel selection will be periodically updated. Note “New Books” there, too. See borrowing instructions on library desk, and have a good read!
Baltimore Yearly Meeting’s Opequon camp is looking for your trash to become their treasure! If you have any of the following to donate, Gina Godfrey will coordinate getting the items to Opequon. Camping equipment such as camping backpacks, lightweight sleeping bags with stuff sacks, sleeping pads, good quality water bottles, water shoes, hiking boots, hiking socks, warm layers like fleeces, etc. Reusable grocery bags. coffee mugs, kitchen towels and sturdy oven mitts. Dry erase white boards. -Books (appropriate for all ages) Art supplies in general, i.e. paint, fabric, paper, markers, yarn, beads, etc. Musical instruments. Sports equipment, i.e. basketballs, soccer balls and playground style balls (for games like GaGaGa–a camp favorite–and Four Square) Fun garments for the often-used costume shed are always welcome! firstname.lastname@example.org
YUIR Summer Kick-Off June 27-29, from 10-4 each day at The Shop in Homewood (621 N Dallas) This 3-day anti-racism training is free and open to youth ages 14-23. Snacks and Lunch will be provided each day. Morning activities will focus on building a shared anti-racist analysis asking the question why are people poor and looking at the history of race and racism in this country. We also look at Internalized Racial Oppression and how that affects our organizing. A big focus is the School to Prison Pipeline and understanding why and how students of color are targeted to end up in the criminal justice system. The afternoon activities will be arts and culture related. An open mic and hands on arts activities are planned. If possible, youth are asked to register online at https://goo.gl/forms/G3H01mZ3xJpI1PR03. Youth are welcome to show up even if they haven’t already registered.

Save your stamps! Save the world! Or at least a teensy bit of it. Please help Right Sharing of World Resources fund microloans to women in developing countries. RSWR has turned used stamps into $50,000 over the years. Deposit used stamps in the orange box by the front door.
Baltimore Yearly Meeting Friends have extended an invitation to other yearly meetings to send one or two Friends as visitors to BYM’s annual sessions from July 31–August 6, 2017 at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. BYM will cover registration costs as well as room and board! BYM is an FGC-affiliated yearly meeting.
