Weekly Bulletin June 19, 2016
Queries for Sixth Month (June) on Spirituality
● Do we seek to keep ourselves sensitive and responsive to the Inner Light and to live according to its promptings?
● How does our religion find expression in daily life?
● Do we respond to that of God in those with whom we differ?
● What are we doing to develop our own spiritual gifts and those of our fellow worshipers?
● Does our vocal ministry arise from a clear spiritual leading?
● Do we encourage mutual respect for varying expressions of religious belief among fellow Quakers?
Friends are reminded that the deadline for submission to the Bulletin is Wednesday at noon. Thank you. Please submit to the clerks at this address: pfmclerks
Announcements and Upcoming Events
Collaboration and Vision (III) Meeting: On June 29th, we will continue our practice of gathering together at the meeting house to consider issues and concerns related to the life of Pittsburgh Friends Meeting. There will be a potluck from 5:00-6:00 pm, with the formal meeting beginning 6:00 and running no later than 8:30. The format of the meeting will be to have a representative from each committee present the committee’s goals and plans for the year (recognizing it is early in the committee “year”). Followed by a time of questions, discussion, and the development of ideas. This meeting is open to all members and attenders of Pittsburgh Monthly Meeting.
Child Care is looking for volunteers to work with our amazing children this summer! For more information, please see or email Anya Moon (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mary Beth (Steisslinger email@example.com). While PA now requires all volunteers working with children to obtain a criminal background check, this is free and easy to do! Please see or email Judy Hale Reed (firstname.lastname@example.org), Claire Cohen (email@example.com) or Kathie Hollingshead (firstname.lastname@example.org) for instructions or assistance. Yes, we can walk you through this process right at the meetinghouse if you prefer!
Typists needed! Summer months mean spottier schedules. Are you interested in being one of the typists that captures ministry and announcements during Meeting for Worship? If so, please contact Susan for more information: email@example.com
Speaking of Ministry: Bringing it home. We’ve been giving you links this year to various resources that (hopefully) provoke some thinking about the ways we engage with vocal ministry. What would it look like if we, as individuals in Pittsburgh Meeting, took this on? We, on Ministry committee, encourage you to share with each other what would help engage us deeply with worship and what happens in that space.

Get the weekly e-bulletin! To get the bulletin or newsletter by email, please send a request to firstname.lastname@example.org. Eric will invite you to join the right PFM Google group. To get a listing in the Meeting Directory (both print and e-versions — the e-directory publishes more often) fill out a Green Card which sits in the parlor on a coffee can in the opposite corner from the piano.
Library Committee: Once again, the Sunday morning parlor display is on summer vacation! But “Reading for a Rainy Day” books are displayed on the library mantel. This selection will be updated as summer goes on—especially if Friends borrow these books! Borrowing instructions are posted on the mantel and on the library desk.
Save your stamps! Save the world! Or at least a teensy bit of it. Please help Right Sharing of World Resources fund microloans to women in developing countries. RSWR has turned used stamps into $50,000 over the years. Deposit used stamps in the orange box by the front door.
Hoping for Light, Eric Starbuck
