Bulletin 7-26-15

Religious Society of Friends of Pittsburgh

4836 Ellsworth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213
Weekly Bulletin: July 26, 2015

Queries for July: (Seventh Month) on Unity in Meeting
– Do we seek to nurture a spirit of unity in our Meeting?
– If a problem or conflict arises within the Meeting, do we make timely efforts to address the issue, in a spirit of love and humility? As we seek unity, do we listen to one another carefully and with openness to Truth?
– Are we able to express our views honestly and with respect for those who differ with us?
– Are we prepared to set aside our individual desires or opinions in order to reach unity in the divine Light? Are we willing to wait patiently for divine guidance rather than be hurried by the passing of time?
– When the Meeting has made a decision, do we continue to care for and respect one another, regardless of our differing personal views?

Childcare: We still have several spots open for childcare this summer, and signing up to watch the children of the meeting will be repaid in homemade illustrations (not guaranteed, but likely). Signing up is easy: go to http://doodle.com/ne7rbternh34qzqu, put in your name, and choose a date. You can also find Susan Vdovichenko or Dou-Yan Yang at meeting and have them help you through it. Thank you in advance.

First Day School is having a carwash and bake sale on Sunday, July 26 at the rise of Meeting (11:30am – 1pm). This is a fundraiser for Casa Esperanza in Panama, an organization that prevents children from going into the agricultural labor force. Child labor has been a theme in FDS this year. Carsten Schmit and his family will be volunteering at Casa Esperanza from August 8-23.

First Day School requests donations of picture books; simple puzzles that are preferably wooden and have less than 36 pieces; old clothes for dress-up; duplos or other building materials that are too large to swallow; dolls; and a toy doctor’s kit for the preschool room. If you have any of these items, please give them to Claire Cohen or leave them in the box on the landing. Thank you! Questions? See Claire Cohen
