Weekly Bulletin: December 28, 2014

Queries for December on Peace
* Do we live in the strength of that Life and Power which takes away the occasion for all war?
* What are we doing to remove the causes of war?
* Where there is hatred, division or strife, how are we instruments of reconciliation?
* Where there is oppression, how are we instruments of justice?
* How do we communicate to others the basis of our peace testimony? Do we join with them in working for peace?
* Are we ready to stand by our peace testimony when it conflicts with the opinions ofothers or with established public policy?
* How do we reconcile our peace testimony with the payment of taxes that support war? What are we doing to encourage consideration of alternatives to military service?

February Workshop: A defining aspect of the Religious Society of Friends is the Spirit-led way in which Friends make decisions and conduct the “business” of the Meeting. On Saturday, February 21 st, Arthur Larrabee, former General Secretary of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, will join us to present a workshop on this subject at Pittsburgh Friends Meeting House. We hope you will join us! If you have questions, please email pfmclerks or speak with Jo Schlesinger, Von Keairns, or May Parish. More information to follow.

Library: Children’s books are on display during Hospitality every Sunday! Look for the Big Red Cart in the foyer. We invite kids to enjoy these books in the building, but please put books on the table behind the cart when finished. To borrow a book and take it home: Please follow instructions posted on signs.

Ministry Committee would like to know if there is interest in re-starting a Wednesday evening Meeting for Worship. From time to time in the past we have had Worship on Wednesday evenings, and we are exploring whether there is interest in doing so again. If you are seriously interested in attending meetings for worship on Wednesday evenings, please let a member of the Ministry Committee know. We would need a commitment from at least 5 to 10 people to get it started.
