Queries for September (Ninth Month) on Children
Do we respect the dignity of our children?
Are we helping our children to recognize and respond to the Light in themselves and others?
How do our lives exemplify peace and caring? Do we encourage children to live simply, nonviolently and with a concern for others, despite temptations from peers, the media and society?
Do we listen to our children so that they learn to value their inner life and strength? Do we continue to love and support them when their actions hurt or grieve us?
Are we involved in the support, care and religious education of the Meeting’s children? In the First Day School, are we teaching them about the history and practices of Friends and the application of Friends’ beliefs to everyday life? Do we teach them about the Bible and about other faiths?
What are we doing to improve the quality of education in the public schools? In what ways are we seeking to meet other needs of children in our communities?
Ministering to the Meeting
“There is an amazing blessing in holding the entire meeting and each individual in love.” – Patricia McBee

Building Spiritual Space – New Meeting Room Design. Please join us for further consideration of this initiative on Sunday Oct 26 at 12:15pm. We’ll start by reviewing the design work that our architects presented in June. (You can also review it at http://buildingspiritualspace.tumblr.com/.) Then, we’ll talk! What do we like about the proposed design? What are our concerns? Are there any alternative approaches to consider? What should be our next steps? All are welcome. Childcare will be provided.

We are working on an adult class for October, after the Gathering, on the Topic "How Does a Quaker Meeting Provide Pastoral Care and Support for Friends in Difficulty." In November we will focus on Thanksgiving with an adult class on "Gratitude as a Spiritual Practice." We then plan to return to the year’s theme "Toward a Caring Community." Please plan on joining us. Don’t miss out on all the excitement!
