The Fall Gathering Committee has been meeting monthly to plan this year’s fall retreat, which will meet at Camp Crestfield from Friday evening, September 20, through lunch on Sunday, September 22. The theme of the retreat will be “Journey toward Wholeness,” based upon Parker Palmer’s book A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey Toward an Undivided Life. (Copies of this and other books by Palmer are in our Meeting library.) The guest facilitator for our Saturday morning and afternoon adult sessions has not yet been determined (unfortunately, Palmer himself was not available), but information about Palmer’s writings and programs can be learned from the website www.couragerenewal.org.
The committee is also planning intergenerational recreation. For Saturday night we have decided to bring back . . . the Talent Show! In order that the greatest number of talented Friends may participate, we propose to set a time limit for each Talent Show act. So start planning and rehearsing now!
whether you want to sing, dance, tell jokes, do a magic act, recite, put on a skit, play an instrument . . . Saturday evening will also offer other activities such as campfire singing, games, and folk dancing.
Put Fall Gathering on your calendar now, and watch the newsletter and the weekly bulletin for further announcements about other important features of the retreat, including the Young Friends program. Information about the Camp Crestfield site and travel directions can be found at www.crestfield.net.
